SCRUBS RRG’s vision is to become the premier medical malpractice provider for practicing Urologists. SCRUBS RRG’s unique methods in underwriting, claims handling and risk management will produce a program of superior quality, performance and profitability.

SCRUBS RRG’s program integrity is founded on Urology specific underwriting and risk management which will ensure its success. SCRUBS RRG has implemented a pre-underwriting risk assessment (PURA) for every applicant in the program. An expert team, with input from Urologists, will perform the assessment and report its recommendation to the Board of Directors.

Why Was SCRUBS RRG Formed?
SCRUBS RRG was formed so that Urologists may regain control of their professional liability insurance destiny. SCRUBS RRG is dedicated to assuring the long-term availability of coverage at stable and reasonable prices to the specialty. The current chaotic and uncertain environment for professional liability insurance coverage threatening many groups’ ability to practice underscores the importance of having a Urology-specific RRG.

The SCRUBS RRG Professional Liability Insurance Program
Subject to advance pre-underwriting clinical evaluation, detailed professional insurance underwriting, and the receipt of completed applications from the group and each physician in the group, SCRUBS RRG provides competent physicians a professional liability insurance policy with the following provisions:
• Claims-made coverage
• Prior acts coverage, subject to advance underwriting review and approval
• Limits of Liability – $1 million per event, $3 million annual aggregate
• Incident trigger for claims made coverage
• Legal defense costs outside the limits of liability
• Coverage provided for service on professional association committees

SCRUBS RRG Governance

Who manages the operations of SCRUBS RRG?
SCRUBS RRG is governed by physician board members who individually sit upon standing committees including Underwriting, Finance, and Claim and Risk Management. Daily management is provided by SCRUBS RRG’s contracted management firm, SCRUBS Managers LLC. Support services are contracted to Alterna, LLC.

What is the composition of SCRUBS RRG’s Board of Directors?
SCRUBS RRG has a Board of Directors comprised of founding member Urologic groups.

Are there annual audits of SCRUBS RRG’s financial statements?
In cooperation with SCRUBS RRG’s Board and Finance Committee, an independent CPA firm performs an annual audit of the financial statements prepared by Alterna.

SCRUBS RRG Board of Directors

Dr. Kapoor is certified by the American Board of Urology and has over 20 years of experience. He is one of the youngest physicians to have been board certified in Urology in the United States. Dr. Kapoor received his B.S. magna cum laude from the Pennsylvania State University and his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in the Accelerated Five Year Honors Program. He completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center, after which he served as Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. His background is diverse in both laboratory and clinical experience.

Dr. Kapoor is the Chairman of the Board of Managers and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Medical Professionals, a multi-specialty physician group operating in the greater New York Metropolitan area. He is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors of the Large Urology Group Practice Association, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Allied Urological Services, the largest lithotripsy partnership in the United States where he also functions as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Dr. Kapoor has published and lectured extensively on both clinical and business medical issues and continues to enjoy an active clinical practice along with his administrative duties with IMP.

Dr. Harris is a board certified Urologist, licensed and practicing in the state of Illinois since 1981. He received his M.D. from the Chicago Medical School. He completed both General Surgery and Urology residency from Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Harris is the President and Chief Executive Officer of UroPartners, an integrated practice of more than 55 experienced urological specialists, pathologists and radiation oncologists serving the city of Chicago and surrounding vicinities. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Large Urology Group Practice Association and is a certified member of the American Board of Urology. His also a member of the American Urological Association and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Williams is CEO and co-founder of SCRUBS RRG. He is responsible for all day to day activities of the company. He is an emergency medicine physician who founded and created the unique concepts utilized by EMPAC RRG, a risk retention group dedicated to the malpractice liability insurance needs of practicing emergency medicine physicians. Dr. Williams has created SCRUBS RRG using the same physician run and underwritten model that has made EMPAC a strong and viable company. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Miami Medical School. Dr. Williams completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at LSU-Charity Hospital, New Orleans. Dr. Williams was named Chief Resident of his program and received the prestigious “Albert J. Lauro, M.D. Award” given for “outstanding service and leadership” to his residency program.

Dr. Sussman is also a co-founder of SCRUBS RRG. He is a board certified Urologist, licensed and practicing in the state of Nevada since 1991. He received his M.D. from the University of Miami. He completed a Urology residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo. After residency training, Dr. Sussman completed a fellowship in female Urology and pelvic floor reconstruction at UCLA Medical Center. He was recertified by the American Board of Urology in 2002 and is a member of various Urologic subspecialty societies.

Dr. Sussman is a member of the Clark County Medical Society and the Nevada State Medical Association. He is the Nevada representative to the American Association of Clinical Urologists.

Dr. Mené, a native of Long Island, received his BS degree in Life Sciences at New York Institute of Technology in 1987 as part of a 7 year medical program. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy Degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1990. He served a one year internship at Massapequa General Hospital (1990-1991), a one year of General Surgery Training at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (1991-1992) and then completed a four year residency in Urologic Surgery at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. During that time he earned a Master’s of Science in Urology for his work on Microwave Thermotherapy in the Treatment of Chronic Non-Bacterial Prostatitis. Dr. Mené has received several awards including, The Meade Johnson Research Grant, The Burroughs Welcome Research Award, The Golden Quill Award and The Merck and Co. Resident Achievement Award.

Half of his clinical time was spent at Albert Einstein Medical Center, a level one trauma center, where he received extensive training in urological trauma during his residency. He has been published several times in the urologic literature.

In 1998, Dr. Mené became board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, and became a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in 1999. He was an oral examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery since 2002. On a national level, Dr. Mené has been politically active, serving as an Associate Board Member on the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery 2004-2006 and as President of the Urologic Division of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons 2004-2005. At the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Mené is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology. Currently, he is in private practice with Integrated Medical Professionals.

Dr. Harb graduated with honors from First I.P. Pavlov Medical School in St. Petersburg Russia.  He completed his residency in at the University of Louisville Hospitals where he placed first and second in the Residents Competition in 1995 and 1994, respectively.

Dr. Harb has been a practicing urologist since 1995,  He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Harb provides general adult and pediatric urology services, with clinical interests in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer.  He currently serves as Chairman of Surgery-Urology at Trinity Medical Center.

Dr. Lanteri received his medical diploma at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, and his Urologic Surgical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Lanteri also completed a Fellowship in Urologic Oncology at Roswell Park Memorial Institute of Health in Buffalo, New York.

Dr. Lanteri, the founder of the New Jersey Center for Prostate Cancer & Urology, is recognized as a pioneer and authority in the field of robotic surgery for the treatment of Prostate Cancer. Over the years he has participated in the research and development of the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, co-authored the textbook “Urologic Robotic Surgery,” and has trained other surgeons in both the technology and surgical techniques.

Dr. Lanteri currently serves as Co-Director in Urologic Oncology at Hanckensack University Medical Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology at UMDNJ – New Jersey Medical School. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of several medical societies including: the Society of Larapoendoscopic Surgeons, the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association and the American Urological Association.

Dr. Kathleen Latino has practiced Adult Urology in Rockland County since July 1999. She considers herself a General Urologist but has special areas of interest in stone disease and female voiding dysfunction.

Dr. Latino received a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. She received her M.D. from New York Medical College. She completed both a General Surgery and Urology residency from New York Medical College Consortium. Dr. Latino has been a board certified member of the American Board of Urology since 1997. She is a member of the American Urological Association, American College of Surgeons, and Medical Society of the State of New York.

Jason Shelnutt is the Chief Executive Officer of Georgia Urology. Georgia Urology provides has 28 offices and ambulatory surgery centers through out the Atlanta metro area.
